About

Joanne Bender

Joanne began her love affair with food at a young age, growing up and working in a small town Pennsylvania family restaurant. She has come a long way since then, having delved into the food and wine scenes in New York, San Francisco, Napa Valley and South Africa.

With her unbounded epicurean spirit, Joanne has as much appreciation for the simple flavours of a traditional diner dessert or homemade cheese as she has for the sophisticated hors d’oeuvres at any exclusive cosmopolitan eatery.   Her real fascination is with people who have a passion for the tastes of life.

Reserve This! was born out of Joanne’s appetite for seeking out chefs, restaurant owners, wine makers and anyone else who is expressing themselves creatively in the gastronomic world, relishing the fruits of their labours and talking about what drives them.

Tim Ardinger

Tim grew up in Lancaster County at a time when culinary offerings were largely limited to family restaurants and fast food outlets, with one or two fine dining restaurants.  Out of necessity he learned to cook at a young age, then gradually found himself developing a real interest in preparing food.  At the prompting of the chef at a fine dining restaurant where he worked, Tim enrolled at the Culinary Institute of America, which set him on a career path as assistant chef, chef, manager, Food Service Director for a healthcare facility and his current position as Catering Manager for Conestoga Valley School District.

Tim’s enthusiasm and knowledge about the world of food continues to grow. Traditional Pennsylvania Dutch cooking is a particular area of interest and he is passionate about making people more aware of this original American style of cuisine.

As a foodie with culinary training and restaurant experience, Tim happily takes to the road with Joanne to review up and coming restaurants on Reserve This!
